Ups, downs and undefeated seasons keep fans on the edge of their seats.
TThe Tigers saw ups and downs in the 90’s, including an undefeated season in 1993. Though they were unable to play in the postseason, the season is considered a national championship caliber season for Auburn. Under coach Terry Bowden, Auburn went to three consecutive bowl games and played for the SEC championship in 1997. The decade ended with the hiring of head coach Tommy Tuberville in 1999.
There is nothing sweeter to an Auburn fan than a victory over The University of Alabama, except maybe five in a row. The Auburn Tigers were on a four-year winning streak against Bama starting in 1986 and ending with the 1990 loss. The shirt design mimicked the rarest and strongest hand in the game of poker, the royal flush. Despite this being a loss, Auburn would soon be back on top in 1993.
Those that have been a part of the Auburn Family for decades remember the undefeated season of 1993 as a magical time on the Plains. To honor the undefeated season, Tiger Rags created the “Eleven-and-Oh” design. At the end of the final game of the season, the radio announcer exclaimed, “Auburn is 11-0!”, which inspired the text on the shirt. The shirt was so popular that the Tiger Rags team had to recruit outside help to assist with printing the shirt.
